Way to go girlby Roza Sinaysky | 20.08.14
As part of my responsibilities as an ambassador of all things Tel Aviv I feel the need to share the young talents I find around, like this cool chick here. I became so smitten by Rotem Lebel’s work I just had to share it, and what better way to do it then having her as a guest here plus showing you some of her zesty photos. Take it away girl!
I must admit that writing down my bio feels a bit silly, cause i’m actually 21 years old, so my bio is awfully short, even thought I’ve been doing this for a few years. I fell in love with photography by accident even though my father owned a 20D Canon camera with a bunch of lenses. I was only 13, and bored, so I just took my dad’s cam and played around with it, not the most interesting story, but i swear that it was love at first sight. since than I haven’t stopped.
It didn’t take me too long to realise that fashion photography is defiantly my thing. The connection between fashion and art is natural for me, and throw the creation process I found a new way to explore and experience it.
I studied art during my school years, I decided I wanted to study fashion photography professionally; I signed on to Ron Kedmi’s Workshop-that inspired me to develop my own “taste” in the field and shaping me into who I am as an artist.
I adore different kinds of photographers, from Kasis Bielska to Michael Halbin, but I always been most attracted to fashion photography simply because I adore fashion, and it gives me the ability to create a flawless world, a story that created where I have the capability to tell it however you want to . It doesn’t have to be a full story, with a start or an ending, it can be a moment, but the beauty of it is that I get to create that perfect moment, and snap it.
My main guideline is trying to share with the viewer my aesthetics which are divided into two very different worlds, that reflects through two characters. The first is a delicate flower-innocence, fragile, almost asexual. That world catches the beauty of silence, with minimalist clothing, white background, almost without makeup or lightning. The second is a whole other world, it’s oozing with sex appeal, trashy and sharp at the same time, it catches the essence of intelligent
In the past two years I’ve come to conclusion that I want to continue expressing myself through fashion photography, so I’ve started to create my own editorials, building my own mini-studio and scouting for collaborations with stylists and Hair/Makeup designers.
My ideas are basically influenced from simple things that I adore, my will to share my loves with other people. Of course that I also keep on track with the latest trend, always trying to find the perfect collaboration between my passions and current fashion.
Currently I am working on a few of my own projects, progressing with my editorials for FW 14\15 and also my personal work that includes short series of photography, such as the story “I’ll Met U. All In Therapy,” self portraits and still life.
I think the Fashion industry in Israel has great talents, and I feel the hunger to try and fit in my own spot. I am really looking forward to make progress and working with more talented people that are out there, trying to publish my work in print, and get recognition for my artistic work.
Thanks for virtually stopping by Rotem, I wish you tons of success and new adventures! Find more fro Rotem Lebel’s photos here.
