Yosef’s Fashion warrior
by Roza Sinaysky | 22.06.14Yosef Peretz is one of Israel’s most respected designers, he’s been doing his thing for over 16 years, he is mostly known for his prints and his rather “fashion forward” approach to it all. His new collection was a refreshing surprise to me so I decided to drop him a line with a few questions, luckily he was up for it and this is what he wrote:
RS: THIS COLLECTION IS A BIT DIFFERENT TO YOUR SIGNATURE “PRINT” STYLE COLLECTIONS, WHAT WAS BEHIND IT?
YP: Yes, indeed it is a little different, but don’t worry they will be back! This time I wanted to do something more clean and tailored and my “classic” prints and patterns were hinted here as embellishments but in a more digital and new feel.
RS: YOU ARE A VERY RESPECT DESIGNER IN OUR LOCAL INDUSTRY, HOW DO YOU MAINTAIN THIS REPUTATION?
YP: I am so grateful for what I have achieved, I have been designing for 16 years and I don’t take the fact I am still around for granted, I’d like to think I give something back to my supporters.
RS: WHO IS THE ULTIMATE “YOSEF” GIRL?
YP: The ultimate Yosef girl is a girl that doesn’t follow trends but appreciates fashion as a form of art.
RS: YOUR RECENT FASHION SHOW WAS SO ENERGETIC AND UNIQUE, TELL US ABOUT IT.
YP: The venue of the show was so beautiful and reminded me of a Parisian living room, the song that I chose was “Feelings” by Nina Simone, there was a nostalgic feeling but the clothes and the hair and the make up were very modern, this combination really thrilled me.
RS: WHERE IS THE ISRAELI FASHION HEADED IN YOUR OPINION?
YP: There has been a huge change in the Israeli fashion industry in the past decade, it is much more respected, there are local designer who have managed to make it internationally, it wasn’t so easy a couple of years ago and I admire and respect that a lot.
RS: TELL ME ABOUT YOUR SUPER COOL LOOK BOOK, WHAT WAS BEHIND IT?
YP: I wanted a really sterile environment , so we chose a white studio we really wanted the clothes to stand out. I created special pieces just for the show and the shoot, boots and hats were created to give a little twist to this tailored collection.
RS: SO,WHAT’S NEXT FOR YOSEF?!
YP: The next step for me would be to get in interior design, I promise to keep you posted how that goes!
