Sunny Side Upby Roza Sinaysky | 17.12.13
The sudden drop of temperatures around here got me (and everyone I know) to hide in bed while wearing fluffy pjs, cosy slippers and sipping gallons of earl grey for days. Now finally after almost a week of severe weather conditions in our town the sun is finally out so I thought this is a good reason to write the next post and get slightly summer-nostalgic in the process. So now that we are back in the warm zone let me tell you about these sunnies I am wearing…

Maya Sapir is the proud wonder of the label “Hamashkifa” (which has a nice double-meaning in Hebrew meaning both “the one observing” and in slang “someone who dresses you up with glasses”). Maya is playing with the Intersection between optics, fashion and cultural investigations and aims to twist the classical and challenge the conventional, with a great respect to the past and even greater appreciation to eyewear craftsmanship while using top of the line materials.
The glasses you see me wearing in this post are part of the label’s collaboration with Dafna Lustig who is a local fashion icon, journalist and a cool girl about town. This was a very productive combo, the glasses were sold globally and featured in endless fashion features and editorials (including this one!)
Maya has been an expert optician for the last 12 years and held key position as Head of optical division at Erroca, Israel’s largest eyewear retailer. Beside manufacturing her own eyewear line, Maya also imports to her shop high-end brand such as: Garret Leight, Mykita, Oliver Peoples and Cutler&Gross.
The capsule collection includes four classic shapes in three colours and are made by some very fine and distinct Italian Acetate. Both collections will be appealing for all design enthusiasts seeking for high-quality indie brands with best value-for-money.
