What makes an icon – Illustrated version

by Roza Sinaysky | 09.08.12

There’s nothing more uncool then having an outfit wearing you and not the other way around. I can always spot the people who try hard to look cool. They always look uncomfortable and awkward, unless, of course, it comes from within—like for this bunch of style icons illustrated below. Not many people can get away with wearing giant cherries on their heads or larger-than-life capes but these guys can!
This fun illustrated guide to fashion’s biggest personalities is by Joana Avillez. Check out the little fun facts she added to each illustration. Fun and educational.

Why we love him: His masculine-meets-feminine aesthetic and constant reinterpretation of “cool”

Anna De La Russo
Why we love her: Her unflinching faith and obsession with fashion

Tom Ford
Why we love him: His slick polish and sense of sex appeal

Tavi
Why we love her: Her precociousness, curiosity, and nostalgic/futuristic style

Anna
Why we love her: Her exuberant style (and that blue hair!)

Andre Leon Tally
Why we love him: His humor, over-the-top taste, and Papa Vogue personality

Why we love her: Her dedication to the weird

Why we love her: Her dedication to the discovery of new talent

Why we love him: His enthusiasm, reliability, and integrity
